XC70 SUV is Back – This Time with a 200km Pure Electric Range

Saudi Arabia : The upcoming XC70 will be Volvo’s first extended-range plug-in hybrid.

The Swedish automaker has revealed its all-new XC70 SUV, which is being touted as its first PHEV. Initially, the vehicle will cater to the growing demand for long-range plug-in hybrids in China, with availability slated for later this year. Volvo is also considering to expand this SUV to other markets in near future.

While details about the Volvo XC70 engine are still under wraps, the Swedish automaker has promised that the vehicle will be able to deliver up to 200km of pure electric range. Leveraging the brand’s advanced SMA (Scalable Modular Architecture) platform, the XC70 marks a significant addition to the Volvo Cars lineup.

The Volvo XC70’s performance is defined by its perfect blend of eco-friendly convenience and long-distance capability, allowing emission-free daily commutes at a lower cost, thanks to its extended electric range and rapid charging. When it comes to long-distance driving, the efficient combustion engine comes into play, offering the freedom to roam without range anxiety. 

With its comfortable and spacious interiors, the XC70 will be an ideal vehicle for any journey, whether it's a short stint around town or a lengthy road trip.

Design – Modern Take on Scandinavian Heritage

The new XC70 banks on the brand's solid tradition and purposeful design legacy, distinguished by a sense of calm confidence and thoughtful simplicity. The sweeping roofline, when combined with the sculpted shoulder, creates a robust and dynamic silhouette.

Inspired by Volvo's all-electric models, the front fascia features a shield-like closed grille, which is paired with an active grille shutter that enhances aerodynamics, interior climate and cooling. This, in turn, results in better energy efficiency and extended driving range. 

The Volvo XC70 features the iconic Thor Hammer daytime running lights, which have been revised with a bolder and more striking expression. The SUV gets headlights equipped with Matrix LED technology that intelligently adapts to various road and traffic conditions, thereby improving visibility and safety.

The rear of the vehicle is characterized by a sleek and modern design, where the vertical C-shaped taillights are cleverly embedded into the rear glass, resulting in a smooth, flush appearance that exudes both style and practicality.

Volvo XC70 Price and Availability

The new Volvo XC70 will go on sale in the Chinese market later this year. It is expected to be launched in the Middle East markets next year. Volvo XC70 price and other details are still to be announced.
