Nissan X-Trail Expert Review
Team SayaraBay says
The brand new fourth-generation X-Trail from Nissan makes a splash in the Saudi Arabian mid-size SUV segment. This X-Trail has been around in the Nissan portfolio since 2000, starting as a tough off-road SUV and over the years has become well-established as a reliable and capable family SUV. The 2025 Nissan facelift X-Trail get quite a significant update, bringing fresh design elements, quite a lot on the tech side as well as greater comfort, safety to this highly regarded midsize SUV. What makes the X-Trail stand out from its predecessor is Nissan’s latest styling that goes well with practical improvements, positioned for families and adventure seekers equally. In this review, you’ll get to know this SUV completely, and help you make the most informed decision.
Interior
Like many other Nissan cars, the Nissan X Trail 2025 interior is quirky, interesting, and quite different. It is nicely designed, layered, and horizontal, using various colours, textures, and materials.
Design
- The first thing you notice is how spacious the interior looks with a nicely designed cabin that balances high-quality materials with durability.
- The simple but quite minimalistic dashboard layout draped with soft-touch surfaces and leather accents on higher trims
- The nice metallic finish, cross stitching and the textured fabric on the door and the attractive texture on the centre console.
- Overall quality of the interior has indeed impressed us with good fit and finish.
- Ambient lighting and panoramic sunroof available on select variants enhance openness and luxury
- Seamlessly integrated digital instrument cluster and multimedia touchscreen create a modern cockpit feel
Driving Position
- You can’t miss out on how the elevated and commanding driving position is, which gives you excellent road visibility
- The seat fabric is high quality, but there is no leather or leatherette.
- The driver’s seat offers 8-way power adjustment with lumbar support on higher trims for long-drive comfort
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel with multifunction controls for audio, cruise control, and driver assistance systems
Passenger Comfort and Storage
- The SUV can be available in either five or seven-seat configurations, with sliding and reclining second-row seats for maximum comfort with decent head and knee room
- The second row seats come with a sliding and reclining feature for utmost comfort, with a bigger window size providing good visibility.
- There is a centre armrest with two cups and a phone holder for relaxation.
- The third row is suitable for children or occasional use, adding versatility for families, but getting there is a bit of an effort.
- Rear passengers benefit from dedicated air conditioning vents and USB charging ports
Storage
- Since it is a bigger and spacious SUV, you’ll find quite a generous and flexible cargo area that expands when the rear seats are folded
- You also get additional compartments like the large centre console, door pockets with bottle holders
- Keep in mind the wireless charging pad doubles as a storage tray
- The 60:40 split-folding rear seats allow easy customisation of passenger and cargo space
Safety

Exterior
The Nissan X-Trail 2025 exterior boasts a bold and aggressive design with a sleek body and high ground clearance to handle various terrains.
- The 2025 X-Trail exterior changes score winning points by leaving the boxy design behind and with more square but modern crossover characteristics.
- Exterior perhaps, becomes one of its selling points among a segment of the buyers with an attractive front, the side profile which gets chrome on the windows, with curvy doors with a bit of cladding and a rugged rear-end.
- The first thing you notice at the front is the really bold V-motion Nissan grille giving it a distinct face.
- The design of the split headlights, which look quite attractive for the cars, enhances the overall appearance. However, what we feel is a little dampener is that the indicators front and rear are the only halogen.
- Some interesting elements at the front include the arrow flaps for the air to follow and an active arrow down which opens and closes based on the needs.
- One top highlight of the X-Trail is the 20-inch which we think is something of a real bold decision by Nissan, which the company seems to think will make it stand out amongst its key rivals.
- The SUV’s dimensions measure approximately 4,690 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,740 mm in height, giving it a commanding presence without being bulky.
- The Nissan X-Trail 2025 is available in nine different exterior colours, five interior colours and four two-tone colours.

Ride and Handling
For starters, the 4-cylinder, turbo engine of the X-Trail might look smaller for a three-row seating SUV. But the reality is powerful, and you feel it when driving in the city or even on the highway.
- The first impression is that the SUV is quite potent to drive, even with bigger engines, with its rivals
- The CVT gearbox is undoubtedly excellent, it impresses with high response to pure acceleration inputs, with easy access through the pedal
- Three drive modes comprising Eco, Standard and Sport serve a purpose on different driving types with visible response of the engine and gearbox depending on which mode you select.
- Frankly, X-Trail’s powertrain isn’t for racing, just like a sports car, but it certainly appears to use way better than purely the number indicates
- A sizable family SUV, this Nissan does a good job in shifting from easy city traffic or demanding highway drive, as the engine is smooth and refined, very hard to come across such a combination.
- Importantly, we found that even if you load the car with people and luggage, the performance won’t be compromised, it never felt underwhelming
- We were also impressed with the fuel efficiency of the X-Trail, which is a big takeaway for family use, as you’ll notice quite a lower running cost.
- Although the X-Trails get 20-inch wheels, which look bigger in the segment, we were slightly concerned about the ride quality, but to our surprise, it was absolutely comfy and superb. Largely due to the suspension set on this SUV is just amazing both for city and even highway.
- This also means the cabin is quite silent, and very well insulated from any outside sound, and even at three-digit speeds, you will see the engine noise is reasonable.

SayaraBay Recommendations: The 2025 X-Trail is an impressive SUV from Nissan that has certainly taken a big step forward compared to its previous generation, especially a bit of disappointment in the third generation in several core areas. However, with the latest revamp, this X-Trail doesn’t fail to make quite an impression. If you want a seven seater with loads of space for passengers and at times for luggage, this is a comfortable SUV which comes across as a nicely loaded, premium cabin, spacious in the middle row. This is a perfect family SUV, with superb handling, strong built quality, also higher efficiency with practicality.
Verdict
If you’re in the market for a mid-size SUV, then the 2025 Nissan X-Trail offers a compelling option-both in 5/7 seats. The newest one carries forward a strong legacy of its last three generations with a fresh design, enhanced interior comfort, and a comprehensive suite of technology and safety features. While it may not be the most powerful SUV in its segment, its successful balance of performance, advanced driver aids, and competitive pricing make it a compelling all-rounder in the midsize SUV segment.
