Hyundai Tucson Expert Review

The Tucson is a compact SUV that’s been popular since its debut nearly two decades ago. Hyundai offers this premium-looking SUV with a bold design, segment-best features, and spacious cabin.  with a luxurious interior.

The Tucson is one of the key core offerings in the midsize SUV segment; it sits between the compact Kona and the larger Santa Fe, and is suitable for families and young professionals in KSA. Hyundai has given this SUV a facelift in 2025, and this five-seater strikes a superb balance between city practicality with light off-road capability, which qualifies as a top choice among KSA buyers seeking affordability and modernity.

Interior

Design & Quality

Dashboard View of Tucson

The Tucson’s interior appears premium and quite a lot user-friendly, with the facelift offering a sleek dual 12.3-inch screen configuration that’s seamless to use and feels modern. The Soft-touch materials, leather seats (Premium and above), and ambient lighting create a cosy, luxurious cabin which feels segment above. The cabin stays quiet even on bumpy roads, and the superior, comfy layout makes controls easy to reach. Two features stand out: the wireless charging pad and ventilated seats, perfect for KSA’s heat, while the panoramic sunroof lets in light for a spacious feel. If compared with its nearest rivals, the Tucson scores well in build quality and tech integration, though some plastics feel basic in lower trims. But the cabin does impress overall with visible signs of comfort and durability.

Front Seat

Tucson Passenger Seat

The front seats are supportive and comfy, with 8-way power adjustments or manual in lower trims, and superior lumbar support for comfortable and relaxed long drives. The heated and ventilated options are a lifesaver in KSA’s extreme summers, keeping you cool without blasting the AC. The height-adjustable driver’s seat provides a clear view of the road, and the leather-wrapped steering wheel feels grippy with easy-to-reach buttons for audio and cruise control.

Electronic Parking Brake

The electronic parking brake with hill-start assist is located at the centre console, and is easy to use at tight spots or on inclines. It’s an underrated but useful feature for hilly areas, automatically holding the car until you accelerate, reducing stress in traffic.

Rear Seat

Hyundai Tucson Seating

The rear bench is spacious for three average size adults, with clear signs of spaciousness where ample legroom and headroom thanks to the long wheelbase. The reclining seats (Comfort and above) give that extra comfort for passengers on long trips, while rear AC vents and USB ports keep everyone cool and charged, something life can't go without, these days as devices need to be conned. The middle seat is firm but usable, and fold-flat capability expands cargo for family outings.

AC Vents

Tucson Front Ac Vents

The standard dual-zone climate control with rear vents is powerful and makes the cabin cool in no time, something absolute must in KSA’s hot weather. It can be used by voice controls for hands-free adjustments. It keeps the whole family comfortable, even in intense heat.

Storage Options

Tucson Cup Holders

Storage is thoughtful, with a deep centre console, door pockets for 1L bottles, and a glovebox that’s cooled in higher trims. The rear armrest has cupholders and a compartment, while under-seat drawers (N Line) add extra space for small items like tools or snacks.

Armrest

Front and rear centre armrests with cupholders provide comfort on long drives, making the Tucson feel relaxing. The front armrest doubles as a storage bin, while the rear one keeps passengers comfy without crowding the space.

Charging Options

Tucson Center Console

There are multiple USB-C ports, a 12V socket, and a wireless charging pad (Premium and above) to keep devices powered. Similarly at the rear USB-C ports fulfil the charging needs of passengers, ensuring phones and tablets stay charged.

Boot Space

Tucson Trunk Open

The Tucson’s boot size is 620 litres, quite enough for everyday needs, or extra luggage even on weekend trips. Which is expandable to 1,756 litres with seats folded. A cargo management system comes as standard, which keeps items secure, and the power tailgate adds convenience for loading, and the access is quick.

Exterior

The Tucson looks quite bold and contemporary with some distinctive exterior design cues. With new elements of sharper lines and premium touches that make it stand out in its segment.  With an imposing road presence with dimensions measuring 4,630 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width, and 1,665 mm in height, with a 2,755 mm wheelbase, it’s compact yet spacious.

The high ground clearance of 182 mm is right to drive through all kinds of terrain that we encounter in KSA. The aerodynamic curves enhance overall fuel efficiency on highways, and the updated grille and LED headlights make it look appealing.

Front

Full Front View of Tucson

The front is indeed looking aggressive, with a parametric jewel grille flanked by slim LED headlights and daytime running lights that integrate seamlessly. The facelift gets a more pronounced bumper with air intakes for better engine cooling, and optional fog lamps enhance visibility in foggy mornings. What also attracts attention is the Hyundai logo that gives it a premium and confident appearance.

Side

Hyundai Tucson Front Cross Side View

From the side, Tucson’s stylish lines and curved wheel arches make it sporty. The roof rails (Premium and above) are practical for luggage on family trips, while body-colored mirrors with turn signals bestow a polished touch. The SUV is modern and also rugged, which suits KSA’s mix of city and highway driving.

Alloy Wheels

Hyundai Tucson Alloy Wheels

The Tucson get  17-inch alloys (Smart trims) for a balance of style and ride comfort, ideal for city use. Higher trims, such as Premium, are offered with 18-inch or 19-inch alloys with low-profile tires for superior grip and a sportier look.

Rear

Tucson Rear angle view

At the rear are wraparound LED taillights with parametric details which suit the SUV's overall exterior design with a lot of modern vibe visible. A roof spoiler and dual exhaust tips (N Line) enhance sportiness, while the Hyundai badge and rear wiper keep it functional in KSA’s dust. The powered tailgate (Premium and above) makes loading easy.

Colors

You get to choose from eight different exterior colours of the Tucson in kSA, these include Polar White, Phantom Black, Shimmering Silver, Amazon Grey, Dark Knight, Ultimate Red, Teal Blue, and Cypress Green. There are two-tone options available, too.

City Performance

Most of the Tucson buyers are likely to drive mostly in cities, and with a 2.0L engine is quite ideal, where you not only feel the smoothness but also responsive power delivery too, something a lot better for everyday driving. The 6-speed auto shifts seamlessly without jerkiness, even in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and the light steering allows effortless manoeuvring through city congestion. It takes on potholes or uneven road stretches superbly and absorbs bumps smoothly. The AWD further boosts confidence on slippery, slippery roads. The 1.6L turbo in higher trims feels punchier, with 177 hp offering better acceleration for merging onto busy ring roads. Overall, the Tucson is an easy-going, quite reliable SUV for city driving, and also promises great mileage as well.

Highway Performance

On KSA’s open highways, the Tucson does a great job with stable, composed handling at high speeds, and this is largely through multi-link rear suspension and aerodynamic design. It cruises quite smoothly even at high speed, and overtaking whenever needed, feels rather easy. The NVH is nicely tuned, and so the sound of the wind on roads doesn't enter the cabin. Which means you feel rather relaxed during long drives.  While driving, the panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with light, and the Bose audio system enhances the audio experience.

Ride and Handling

Hyundai Tucson

The Tucson’s ride is plush yet controlled, with the facelift’s updated suspension perfect to take on uneven roads without much fuss. The multi-link rear setup and front MacPherson struts are tuned superbly, and so they absorb potholes well while maintaining body roll low in corners. The SUV has great ability to handle speed bumps smoothly, with minimal cabin shaking, and the AWD option (Smart AWD, N Line) enhances confidence on loose gravel or wet surfaces, and some occasional light off-road could be fine. The steering is accurate, quite lightweight, which means lower fatigue in city driving, but it weighs up in Sport for engaging drives, especially on winding roads.  The HDA system (Highway Driving Assist) on higher trims keeps you centred in lanes, reducing stress on long hauls, and the quiet cabin at speed, blocking out wind and tire noise. Off-road, the 182 mm clearance and all-terrain tires (N Line) tackle dunes decently, but it’s not a hardcore off-roader. The ride quality stands out against rivals, feeling more refined than the Kona but less plush than the Santa Fe, striking a sweet spot for daily use.

It hits the sweet spot with tech like adaptive cruise and a 360-degree camera, competitive against rivals, and efficient for KSA drives.

Verdict

The Hyundai Tucson is a compact SUV that has style, tech, and value, which make it among the top picks in the highly popular and fast-growing segment in KSA right now. With the latest updates, there are some visible changes that elevate its appearance, be it a bolder grille, larger screens, and improved powertrains, positioning it as Hyundai’s versatile midsize offering.

This is further strengthened by practicality, like a 620L boot, refined engines, and some enticing features such as ventilated seats. Overall, the Tucson appears to be not just practical but also quite a valuable pick for families or professionals. If you look at its top rivals, the Honda HR-V or Nissan Kicks, it certainly has some compelling standout characteristics like reliability, refinement and power. If you want a fun, affordable SUV, the Tucson delivers.
