Hyundai Elantra Expert Review
Team SayaraBay says
It may not come as a surprise to most car buyers that the overall sedan segment commands over half the market share in the Kingdom, despite the popularity of SUVs. And this segment is mostly dominated by Japanese and Korean brands like Toyota, Honda, Kia and Hyundai. And most of them have a compelling sedan that attracts buyers, including families and individuals.
Hyundai is one leading brand, cornering a significant market share with several of its sedans ranking top of the sales chart. One among them is the Elantra, which received the latest facelift in 2025 with all-new, bold and sporty design, sophisticated technologies, and several updated features in safety, comfort and entertainment. The Elantra is known for its spacious and premium cabin, cosy ride and great features, which make it popular among buyers in KSA. The Hyundai Elantra price in KSA starts around SAR 82,000 with several variants on offer.
So, what makes the 2025 Elantra among the best sedans in the segment? And should you be considering it as your next premium sedan? To get those answers, read our in-depth review where we tell you everything that you need to know.
Interior
Inside the Elantra, there is an excitement from the refined, driver-focused cabin with a mixture of opulence and luxury. Looks like Hyundai has chosen to offer the best comfort and premium materials, but with a minimalist design, you won’t fail to notice the quality of the interior materials, everything looks superb quality, which assures durability.
Design
- The interior layout is simple and innate; the cockpit overall looks super advanced.
- What makes the interior awesome is the choice of colours: Black Monotone, Modern Grayc, Leather Cashmere Beige, Medium Gray and Dual-tone colours with Woven, Mesh Raschel, Tricot and Authentic Leather and Bio Artificial Leather.
- The cockpit is designed in such a way that the driver has quick and easy access.
- Several functions, including the entire dashboard, steering with control, touch screen, rearview mirrors and other aspects are very well placed, look quite attractive.
Driving Position
- The driver’s seat gets power with 8-way adjustment, and lumbar support to set for your personal comfort and sitting position
- The tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel as a standard helps to set it best to your driving position and so you feel at ease during every single trip.
- Even though you don’t get to sit up like an SUV, the driving position is commanding and comfortable.
- The sizable windows and slim pillars provide help in greater and clearer visibility, which is a bliss when parking or navigating some tight spots or cruising to congested areas of the city.
Passenger Comfort
- The back seat is a comfortable place to be with soft synthetic leather, which is comfortable and soft, making your longer trips easy, and there is a good reclining seat
- One big positive is the amount of legroom, headroom, and thigh support for rear passengers. If you’re looking for comfort as a priority, the Elantra scores way better than its rivals in the segment.
- There are two USB-C ports for the rear passenger for greater connectivity that are standard on all trims.
- The fabric on the seat at the back side is attractive and looks good with a nice texture to the interior, and is worth it, just like your home.
- There is a rear seat that gets an armrest with cup holders for extra comfort and convenience on long trips.
- Adjustable rear head restraints and child seat anchors, LATCH system for safety
- Another comfort is that the power windows and auto-folding mirrors come standard.
Storage

Boot Space
- The Elantra gets a decent size of 474L boot, which should suffice for the needs of families' long road trips and everyday family requirements.

Ride and Handling
While taking a spin, we were excited to see how the new sedan performed with the engine, with complete refinement. And it didn’t disappoint at all.
- If you look at the engine options, the hybrid (139 hp) is a lower-powered one, while the petrol one is a slightly higher(159 and 201 hp), and so you know upfront the dynamics of their performance, just to make that clear.
- While driving the hybrid, we feel it is lower in power and not made for performance elements, but instead, what you do get is a promise of higher mileage and also eco-friendliness with efficient power delivery.
- The 2.0L engine delivers smooth and steady acceleration suitable for everyday driving. Likewise, the 1.6L turbocharged variant is not much different; there is a lot of punchier performance, perfect for highway driving at speed.
- The Elantra certainly has those elements that give you smooth ride quality with accurate and controlled steering, enjoyable for any driver-city or highway.
- In terms of handling, it takes the corners perfectly but doesn’t get the SUV-type sporty speed, and so is ideal for comfort but not highly engaging, which is understandable for the sedan.
- The MacPherson strut at the front and torsion beam at the rear suspension make your ride comfortable and extremely smooth.
- The acceleration, though, is sufficient for your everyday needs, and the steering is a lot lighter and easier to use.
- Overall, the Elantra is a good sedan to drive; it gives the confidence of true stability and comfort, because of its sedan platform and is an ideal choice for a practical, everyday commute or family drivers.

Variant
The 2025 Hyundai Elantra is available in multiple variants to provide enough choice for buyers to pick from different engine powers, fuel and features.
Smart C 1.5
This base variant starts with an attractive price of SAR 82,285 (including VAT), and is the best choice for buyers who are on a tight budget. Packed with a reliable powertrain but much lower feature list, however, you do get basic safety, entertainment, and comfort features, including front and rear parking sensors, ABS, airbags, and Bluetooth connectivity, making it a practical choice for first-time owners or small families.
Smart C 2.0
A more powerful engine, this variant starts at SAR 85,735 (including VAT) and offers you a balance between greater performance with some extra features like LED lights, smart entry, and start system. You can pick this one for higher performance elements like power and greater tech without paying that extra premium.
Smart Plus C 1.5
Also powered by a 1.5L engine, the price of this variant is SAR 85,735 (including VAT), but here you get more features for convenience and safety over the base Smart C 1.5, which is also offered with ADAS features like lane change indicators and parking sensors.
Smart Plus C 2.0
At 88,035 (including VAT), this variant represents a combination of premium features like leather seats, a high-end audio system, and Hyundai SmartSense safety technologies, positioned for performance and adventure enthusiasts and tech-savvy buyers, who don’t mind paying a little extra.
Comfort
This top-end variant, as the name suggests, gets improved comfort and convenience, comprising features like cruise control, velvet seat upholstery, and rear air conditioning vents, and could be a choice for families who want good comfort, safety and entertainment along with a superior driving experience, along with ease of handling.
Sayarabay Recommends: With five variants in multiple powertrains on offer, our job of recommendation isn’t easy with the stylish and premium compact sedan, the Elantra. So, instead of one particular variant, we are going to recommend two. First the 1.6L hybrid would be a good choice as it balances both fuel mileage and a greater features list at an attractive price, and so anyone with prefers low running costs and strong resale value, this could be the best choice Similarly, Smart Plus C 2.0 variant is another great pick for its performance and features, and packed with a powerful 2.0L engine, 17-inch alloy wheels, host of features, but slightly on the higher price. With a focus on value and refinement, stylish, comfortable, but importantly, without the price of high-end or sporty N Line models. It could be your everyday sedan for personal and family needs.
Verdict
In the compact sedan segment in KSA, there are several options right now, all of them equally promising, and you get to choose from different types, powertrains, performance, etc. And, frankly, the Elantra offers a lot of it as well, like hybrid or petrol or front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive or the high-performance version. With the 2025 facelift, Hyundai has given the Elantra a more appealing look with design changes and a big performance upgrade. What we liked about this sedan is the premium interior, great features, but only on the higher trims, and the choice of powertrains. So, any sedan buyer right now looking at a high-end but affordable option in the market which is also reliable, stylish and efficient, fulfils personal and family duties, then the Eleantra comes right at the top, among its key rivals.
Other Cars to Consider
- Toyota Corolla: Most popular in the segment, comes with its key characteristics like reliability, fuel efficiency and premium cabin with high resale value
- Honda Civic: Another equally compelling option in the segment, where you’re assured of sporty handling, luxurious interior, and superior reliability for a peaceful ownership experience.
- Kia K3: This could be another choice in the segment from Hyundai’s sister brand, promising identical benefits like a spacious cabin, advanced features, and affordability.
- Mazda 3: Offers a mix of style, comfort, and efficiency with plenty of features and a promise of high fuel mileage.
- Volkswagen Jetta: A European rival with great driving dynamics and a comfortable cabin
