Saudi Arabia: Hyundai has launched the all-electric Staria 2027 in Europe, confirming specifications and pricing that position it directly against the premium minivan segment.

Hyundai has officially entered Europe’s electric minivan market with the Hyundai Staria 2027. The Staria 2027 is positioned as a direct competitor to premium electric minivans like the Volkswagen ID.Buzz. It comes in three distinctive trims: Trend, Prime, and Calligraphy. It is larger than the ID. Buzz With 5,253 mm in length on a 3,273 mm wheelbase and a cargo space of 1,303 liters. Hyundai is positioning it as the premium, high-spec contender, not just a people-mover.

Distinctive New Look for the EV Edition

The Staria Electric keeps the futuristic silhouette as other Hyundai minivans. But the company has made a set of changes that set it apart from the petrol and hybrid versions. The key changes are in the front, where the traditional grille disappears, replaced with a smoother, closed-off surface, with the charging port integrated into the front fascia and active air vents added to the lower bumper. These vents open and close automatically to improve aerodynamics and cooling efficiency.

The car also gets wheels designed specifically for the Electric version, along with some EV-specific badging and details. The rear keeps the same massive tailgate and vertical taillights running down both sides, common with the standard Staria.

Battery and charging specs

The company highlights the 800-volt system's ability to recharge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes.

The Staria’s 800-volt electrical architecture is the same technology as seen in the Ioniq EV line-up. That gives this minivan a significant advantage at compatible fast-charging stations. The 84 kWh battery powers the single front-mounted electric motor and produces 160 kW (218 hp). On the WLTP cycle, the nine-seat Trend variant achieves a claimed range of 430 km, with a stated consumption rate of 21.8 kWh per 100 km. Also, it has a towing capacity of up to 2,000 kg. It is equipped with a heat pump and battery heating system as standard for the best performance even in colder conditions.

Final Thoughts

The Hyundai Staria Electric enters the European market as a genuinely well-equipped family EV, with strong cargo capacity, a 430 km range, and fast 800-volt charging. It is positioned as the competitive alternative to cars like the Volkswagen ID.Buzz. But as of now, it has been launched in Europe only. So interested Saudi buyers must wait for the local reveal or official announcement from Hyundai's Saudi distributor before expecting it on Kingdom roads.
