2026 Mazda CX‑5 Revealed with Bolder Styling and Future Design Blueprint

Saudi Arabia : Mazda has debuted the all-new 2026 CX‑5. It had a strong design identity, longer wheelbase, with hints of a wider shift in design in future models.
- Gets the new Kodo design, which marks the future visual direction of Mazda.
- Comes with a sharper grille, slimmer lights, and bold “MAZDA” badging.
- Powered by petrol, but an in-house hybrid is coming by 2027.
Mazda has unveiled the all-new 2026 CX‑5, and it brings a sharper, more refined design that sets the tone for the future of the brand.
The CX‑5, which is the global best-seller of Mazda, has been refreshed with a preview of what’s coming across the rest of the lineup. The redesigned SUV, which was first shown in North America, reflects a clean and aggressive update to the long-standing Kodo design philosophy from Mazda.

Design Evolution for the Future
The updated Mazda CX‑5 has a more dynamic stance and bolder detailing from front to back:
- Inset horizontal LED DRLs above the headlamps, to give a signature light signature.
- A redefined “Signature Wing” front grille, which is now wider and more sculpted.
- Slimmer, sleeker headlamps inspired by the larger CX‑60 and CX‑80.
- Squared wheel arches and refined cladding by the sides.
- Thin LED taillights and stretched “MAZDA” badging on the tailgate.
These elements give the new CX‑5 a solid and premium presence on the road. The length of the interior has been increased by 4.5 inches and the wheelbase has been stretched. So, it now offers improved space for passengers and luggage, which makes it more practical without any effect on its balanced proportions.

Interior Space Meets Jinba Ittai
Mazda still values the concept of Jinba Ittai—a Japanese term for the unity between driver and machine. Despite the extra size, the cabin maintains a tight and focused layout. Rear passengers get better legroom, while there is a subtle growth in cargo capacity. This makes the CX‑5 more versatile for families in Saudi Arabia.
The brand has kept materials and controls clean and familiar. The full details on interior tech will come later. However, Mazda will likely carry over options of digital cluster, upgraded infotainment, and improved climate controls across trims.
Powertrain Strategy and Hybrid Plans
At launch, the CX‑5 will have a 2.5-liter e-Skyactiv G petrol engine, supported by mild-hybrid technology. This will give it a blend of efficiency and delivery of smooth power.

Mazda also confirmed its new in-house hybrid powertrain will debut in 2027. Until then, the focus remains on keeping diverse powertrain options, with future versions likely to include Skyactiv-Z inline six engines and solutions that are more electrified.
More Than Just One SUV
The 2026 CX‑5 is a design manifesto from Mazda. As VP Stefan Meisterfeld noted, “In the future, you may be seeing more of these elements.”
You'll likely see this headlight layout, grille shape, and tailgate branding across crossovers and upcoming EVs from Mazda. This direction, for the KSA market, could bring sleeker, smarter models that keep the core identity of Mazda, while meeting the needs of new customers.
