Inside the Swift, a well-functioning cabin welcomes you. Suzuki has given a lot of focus towards mixing practicality with new tech for a premium and upmarket feel that families want from their hatchback. 

Design

• Overall design seems to have improved in this new Swift. 
• The dual-tone dashboard gets faux wood inserts and silver accents, which make you feel a little premium
• The hard plastics dominate the interior, but the quality looks upmarket with a superior overall finish and welcoming vibe.
• Basically, a clean and simple design makes the cabin spacious and also easy going with a lot of space to move around your body

Driving Position

• The moment you get to the driver's seat, you feel the typical swift driving position, and the seating is perfect. 
• These upright A pillars are very much the Swift you have known for years. The windshield is huge, with clear visibility and comfort 
• The steering wheel is familiar, but looks great and with all the controls. 
• Subtle, easy and uncultured design of the dashboard is good with an easy-to-read instrument cluster 
• Controls and infotainment system are nicely placed, reaching them is effortless, and you notice the attention to detail given to the cabin's smallest things
• Also, you’ll experience the soft seat cushioning and lumbar support that help you feel comfortable and reduce your fatigue when you drive for longer hours.

Passenger Comfort

• The back seat hardly shows much change in this new car. You feel the same space and feel, which is not a bad thing because it is good overall. 
• It is for three average people, but two can be more comfortable with plenty of leg, head, shoulder and knee room across the cabin with a good view out from the sizable windows.  
• Three-point seat belts for all passengers; only two rear headrests provided
• Interestingly, despite being an affordable hatch, the rear passengers are provided rear AC vents and two USB ports for greater comfort
• Slightly scooped-out roof creates additional headroom in rear
• Fabric seats offer reasonable cushioning to ensure the passengers are well taken care of.

Storage

• Storage in the cabin is just not great, starting with a small glove box
• Average size door pockets. Door pockets with bottle holders help keep items organised
• The cup holders can take small bottles 
• Next to the driver, there is no centre armrest or box to keep your stuff for storing your stuff.

Boot Space

• The Swift is a hatchback means that, unlike a sedan, you won’t find a dedicated boot space. However, it does offer a total luggage space of 265 litres with the rear seats up
• This can be increased to 589 litres when the rear seats are folded down
• As expected, the boot isn’t big but sufficient for everyday use, easy access for loading and unloading.

One big highlight of the fourth-gen Swift is the higher safety, boosting confidence in this compact hatch.

• Six airbags, including dual front, side, and curtain.

• Electronic Stability Program, Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Hill Hold Assist, which avoids rollback on inclines.
• The 3-point seat belts with lamps and buzzers, along with ISOFIX child seat anchorages, for the safety of the child.

• The reverse parking sensors and a camera for safer parking, well supported by a 360-degree HD view camera for the surrounding view. 
• Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Engine immobiliser, rear defogger, and anti-theft security system with shock sensor.
• Speed-sensitive auto door locks and day/night adjustable inside rearview mirror.
• Suzuki HEARTECT body structure for superior impact resistance.

• Features like blind spot monitoring, rear collision warning, hill descent control and stability-improving technologies.

The Swift maintains its familiar look in this fourth-generation avatar, and you can recognise it instantly due to its overall exterior appearance. The overall appearance looks sleek and stylish, but it keeps its iconic aggressiveness and boldness.

• Right at the front, you’re greeted with the attractive black chrome grille with the Suzuki logo prominently located on the bonnet, which is moved from the grille.

• From the side profile is quite familiar, the roofline tapers slightly towards the end, a highlight of the typical Swift body structure and style. The rear door handle has moved from near the C-pillar to the conventional place of the rear door. What is interesting about the side profile is the prominent thick line that runs the length of the car all the way to the tail lamp.

• Also, we liked the pronounced flanks, both at the front and rear give a muscular look to the Swift and set the Swift apart from regular hatchbacks in the market.  

• The stylish LED headlamps highlight its intricate detailing, and so do the horizontal LED daytime running lights, giving elegance to this hatchback

• Also, the redesigned bumper gets curved cuts and angles with nicely blended fog lamps for an overall improved sporty look

• The Swift is 3,845 mm in length and 2,450 mm in wheelbase, which makes for quite an appropriate standing and functional profile

• The 15-inch alloy wheels with a fresh design enhance the overall appeal of the car.

• Similarly, the floating roof design is bolstered by blacked-out pillars, which make the car very lively, refreshing and also energetic

• At the rear an appealing LED tail lamp with DRLs that offer high detailing and a distinctive light signature
• Subtle spoiler adds a sporty flourish, and Compact roof antenna improves connectivity

Ride and Handling

The Suzuki Swift has always been quite efficient and fun to drive, and that is exactly what we experience with the driver on the highway, city and also some congested roads across Jeddah.

• The suspension seems to have been well-tuned. Suzuki says the rear suspension has been changed to give better handling, which is nice, and so the balance between comfort and body control is well achieved. You don’t feel the bumps as they absorb potholes and uneven stretches of roads, but at the back, the story is slightly different. 
• The ride quality is improved in this fourth generation, with riding assured and confident. 
• The engine is quite responsive, smooth and perfect for your city driver, and for highway driving too. But, for a performance seeker it might be some disappointment with a feel underpowered especially during high acceleration.
• For your daily drive mostly in the city, the acceleration is capable, and the new 1.2-litre engine is surprisingly good, which gives you adequate kick for overtaking and merging.
• The CVT is smooth and gentle, extremely easy to use and also responsive, which makes your driving comfortable and leisurely
• A big improvement is in steering, a lot of weight and providing superb confidence on the highway and corners and reaching to its typical Swift level, which we didn’t find in the second and third generation but corrected in the fourth generation.
• The cabin is quiet with almost no road or wind noise chipping in, and so you feel less fatigued during long drives.
• Overall, the Swift is regarded as a comfortable, practical, and fun-to-drive hatchback that excels in urban environments while remaining competent on highways.

Suzuki Swift GL Plus

Priced at SAR 57,385, the GL is the base variant, with an overall bargain buy for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money but just needs a practical car with guaranteed performance. Yet, in these variants, there are basic features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, and safety features like six airbags and ABS with EBD. If this is going to be the first-ever car, then it makes perfect sense for you to try out these variants for your daily drive

Suzuki Swift GLX Plus

At SAR 64,285, the GLX with that extra price comes with some high-end features and promises to give you that special experience.  Like the electric sunroof, 360-degree HD camera, wireless phone charger, cruise control, and 15-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, the interior comes with extra refinement and feels more premium with fabric upholstery.

SayaraBay Recommends: The most attractive elements of the Swift are its compact size, high mileage, and affordable price to buy and lower cost of running. And, the new hatchback maintains it all, and rather gets more in terms of latest tech and safety, so you can rely on this car as your everyday city commuter. Now, choosing between the two available variants in KSA, our recommendation would be the GLX variant, for a simple reason: the price difference is not very high. However, with that extra premium, you get considerably greater value, including added comfort, safety, and convenience features like the sunroof and 360-degree camera. But if you’re on an absolute tight budget, then consider the GL Plus variants, where you might miss out on features, but the performance remains the same.

The Swift has a lot in this new generation to set itself apart, largely due to its new powertrain comprising the new engine, chassis and suspension. It continues to impress when it comes to giving you the fun to drive dynamics, and Suzuki has been able to give it a classic design, the hatch known for 20 years. Most of the buyers will find it attractive enough due to being closer to the Swift DNA, and the whole car feels quiet, gentle and more grown-up with a lot of key updates including chassis, suspension and both inside and out. So, it is fair to say, the new Swift is a combination of a distinctive look, reasonably well-equipped tech and remarkable practicality. Families will love the hatchback for the same reason they did before, including being easy to handle, especially in the city, a lot fuel-efficient and being very affordable. More enthusiasts will notice the new Swift is not as sharp as its predecessor, so at corners you will get the power and performance but not necessarily the real sporty feel, but overall Suzuki has made it competent, precise and functional, which makes the Swift stand out in its segment.
