Wallbox and Turning Point Energy Surpass 10,000 EV Chargers in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia: Wallbox and its Saudi partner, Turning Point Energy, have confirmed the installation of over 10,000 EV chargers in the Kingdom; here's what that number means for buyers. This marks a major milestone for both of the brands with their AC and DC units across homes, businesses, and public locations.

10,000 Chargers Deployed

The 10,000-unit milestone includes both AC and DC units deployed across homes, businesses, and semi-public locations. The partnership between charger manufacturer Wallbox and its official Saudi distributor, Turning Point Energy, has crossed a notable installation figure. Since 2022, more than 10,000 chargers have been deployed across the Kingdom. This number represents ownership support infrastructure. It is not yet a mature national fast-charging network. These chargers consist of both AC and DC chargers. AC chargers are very convenient for homeowners and villa owners for overnight charging. This reduces the hassle of finding a public charger. EV owners could just plug their vehicle in the morning and use their cars for personal and work use. DC chargers are fast and mostly used in commercial locations. It needs more logistics and approvals. 

Home Charging Advantage

Not just the Villa owners, but it's for everyone who has dedicated parking. They offer clear advantages whether it is daily commuting, family trips, or regular urban travel; charging at home is the most practical solution for EV owners in Saudi Arabia. The installation is very simple if you want to install it in the garages and parking spaces. 

But it faces a few hurdles in the case of apartment residents in terms of securing building approvals and dealing with limited electrical capacity in shared structures. Then there is also the hassle of managing the shared-billing arrangements. That keeps the large part of the urban population away from the cost-efficient home charging 

BYD and Lucid Bundle Strategy

The confidence in the dealer and aftersales network strongly influences purchasing decisions. For that, Turning Point has a clear strategy with makers like BYD and Lucid. They bundle the vehicle, a compatible Wallbox charger, and certified installation into a single package. This removes the major point of friction for first-time buyers of finding their own charging solution. This makes it easy to transition to electric mobility without facing the charging hassle. 

Final Verdict 

After that, the only issue that remains is the intercity charging corridors via reliable and accessible public charging. That is also expanding on routes like Riyadh to Jeddah or Dammam. Apart from the charger count, we must also work on the reliability, location, and simple ease of use of the public network for mass EV adoption.
