How many variants are there in the BYD Han? 

In the German market, the BYD Han comes in two distinct versions: executive variant and the emerald green edition. The latter stands out with its unique green velour and leather upholstery, along with green carbon trims. Additionally, the more expensive variant features enhanced wireless charging capabilities, offering 50W compared to the 15W in the executive model. 

What features does the BYD Han get? 

The BYD Han is lavishly equipped. The sporty front seats are fully electric, providing lumbar support, and even the rear seat backrests are electrically adjustable. All four seats come with heating and cooling options. Front seatbelts automatically tighten upon buckling, enhancing the sense of security. 

Taller individuals will find the seats highly comfortable with ample lateral support, though shorter passengers might find the side bolsters a bit intrusive. The panoramic sunroof is a highlight, offering a large opening for a breezy drive and a sunblind for protection on hot days. A heat pump is included to manage power consumption in colder weather.

The infotainment system in the Han is comprehensive. The driver benefits from a 12.3″ TFT instrument display and a head-up display. The center-piece is a 15.6″ touchscreen that can rotate for portrait or landscape use, accompanied by two additional screens in the rear. Rear passengers can control seat positions, the sunroof, ambient lighting, temperature, airflow, and the infotainment system. Two IsoFix mounts ensure the youngest passengers are secure and entertained.

For connectivity, the Han provides two 15W wireless smartphone charging points at the front, one beneath and one in front of the center armrest, along with four USB ports at the front and two at the rear. The sole USB-C port is designated for front passengers. The in-car hotspot, powered by a standard 4G module, is accessible to all occupants.

How spacious is it? 

BYD has meticulously crafted the Han to serve as a sporty, chauffeur-driven EV, with the rear right seat being the prime spot. The entire saloon exudes a sense of spaciousness and openness, especially in the rear. Legroom is generous, and the seats are a blend of comfort and high-quality materials. 

The rear right seat also features controls to adjust the front passenger seat for additional legroom. However, the floor in the rear is raised due to the battery placement, making it challenging to sit upright without knees positioned high. 

What motor options are available?

Equipped with an 86 kWh battery pack, the BYD HAN competes favorably despite slightly lower capacities compared to its German luxury counterparts. Utilizing the advanced Blade Battery technology based on lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO), the HAN ensures enhanced safety with reduced thermal instability risks and a claimed lifespan exceeding 2,000 charge cycles. 

BYD boldly asserts a potential for up to 5,000 charge cycles, supported by an impressive 8-year warranty or 160,000 km, underscoring its durability and reliability in the electric vehicle segment.

What’s the range of BYD Han?

Demonstrating commendable efficiency, the BYD HAN achieves remarkable mileage, bolstered by an aerodynamic Cd value of just 0.23. During extended motorway drives with cruise control set at 125 km/h, energy consumption stabilizes around 17 kWh/100 km, aligning closely with the predicted range of 500 km and WLTP-certified figure of 521 km. 

With a more conservative driving approach and minimal motorway usage, drivers can expect a summer range of up to 600 km, albeit reduced to around 400 km during winter conditions.

How many color options are there?

Prospective buyers can select from a restrained palette of two color options: Emperor Red and Al Blue.

Should you buy the BYD Han?

The BYD HAN emerges as a compelling choice for those seeking a spacious, chauffeur-driven luxury sedan, blending opulent interiors with robust performance credentials. Despite its strengths, certain drawbacks, including an underwhelming infotainment system, limited cargo capacity, and subpar charging efficiency, warrant careful consideration before making a decision.

What are my alternatives? 

Presently unavailable in many markets worldwide, the BYD Han faces no direct competitors in the Saudi Arabia region. These things said, we have tested BYD cars in the past and they have come across as impressive products so we genuinely hope that the Han also makes its way here.
