The BAIC X7 is designed really well, doesn’t look like the typical Chinese car, like the plush sleek silhouette with its aerodynamic efficiency, improving fuel economy. Then obviously the streamlined design not only looks impressive but also lower wind resistance. The rugged and aggressive front grille, further complemented by sharp LED headlights, gives the X7 an imposing road presence, providing strength and sophistication. Not just exterior but the cabin also give the SUV a great value including the large panoramic sunroof allowing natural light.

The X7 is coming to the Kingdom most likely this quarter, but no confirmation from the company. But my little exploration of this model ignited my interest in this mid-size SUV. Things like the powertrain consists of a 1.5L engine, power figures of 180hp and 305 Nm of torque tuned to a 7-speed auto, quite a nice combination for such a size of SUV. It is a good five seater with a relatively bigger cabin, which is comfortable along with super premium features for entertainment, convenience and safety too. But all of this could be subject price, if I truly like it or not.

I think that the BAIC X7 combines both the good looks and also performance. This is based on the 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine that promises 185hp of power and 305 Nm of torque, mated to a 7 speed transmission, I think this is a good combination for a SUV of this size. The X7 also looks great and has some of the most attractive features, making it highly ahead of its competition in the segment. Wish to explore this once it is available commercially.

At a price starting from around SAR 100k, the X7 SUV from BAIC is a perfect car in almost every way you can think of. I can tell this from my personal observation and the time I spent at the company showroom. The exterior of the car is modern no doubt, and I think the interior is also quite plush and elegant. And then finally, the SUV is packed with the latest bells and whistles that you want in a car of this price. It is getting a lot more than you find in the segment at a very attractive price point. I know this is only because the Chinese automaker is trying to grab customers from the other established brands, and so if you don’t mind a new brand but good car, then the X7 from BAIC could be your next SUV. I’m definitely tempted.
