Hongqi Strengthens Global Luxury EV Lineup with New Updates and PHEV Preview

Saudi Arabia : Hongqi has updated its luxury electric cars and given previews of a new plug-in hybrid SUV. The aim is to expand its global presence while improving the range of driving and premium features.

Hongqi, the official state carmaker of China, has upgraded two of its luxury electric cars and provided a preview of its upcoming plug-in hybrid model.

EVOxTerra Inc., the exclusive distributor of Hongqi cars in the Philippines, confirmed that the move forms part of the brand’s global strategy to expand its luxury portfolio. With growing demand for Hongqi cars in KSA and beyond, the company is strengthening its presence in both premium and mainstream segments.

Flagship SUV: E-HS9 Gains More Range and Luxury

The refreshed E-HS9, Hongqi’s flagship electric SUV, now offers a Hongqi electric car range of 515 kilometres, an increase from 440 km. Key upgrades include:

• Standard 22-inch rims and a 16-speaker BOSE audio system.
• High-quality interior design with Nappa leather and multi-zone climate control.
• Multi-screen digital cockpit for advanced connectivity.
• Dual-motor all-wheel-drive producing 544 hp for smooth acceleration.

The E-HS9 continues to reflect Rolls-Royce design cues, as its designer Giles Taylor previously worked on the Cullinan and Phantom. The SUV is priced at P6,480,000 ($113,300), a premium Hongqi cars price that underscores its flagship status.

E-QM5 Plus: Extended Range for Daily Use

The E-QM5 Plus electric sedan brings an enhanced Hongqi electric car range of up to 610 km (CLTC cycle) with its larger 72 kWh LFP battery. On a single charge, it supports 30% to 80% replenishment in about 30 minutes.

At P1,880,000 ($33,105), the Hongqi car price in KSA is expected to remain competitive compared to rivals. The sedan measures 5,040 mm in length and comes with a front-mounted motor producing 188 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Inside, buyers will find ventilated seats, cruise control, and a 10-inch infotainment screen.

The E-QM5 has been popular in China for ride-hailing services such as DiDi, averaging more than 6,000 units monthly. Since the Plus model launch, sales have grown by as much as 12% month-over-month.

HS3 PHEV Preview: Hybrid Power for Longer Journeys

Hongqi also previewed the HS3 PHEV, which combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a 168 kW electric motor. Together, they generate 565 Nm of torque and accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 7.6 seconds.

Highlights include a 115 km Hongqi PHEV range on pure electric power and a total driving range exceeding 1,400 km. Thanks to its DC fast-charging system, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in just 19 minutes.

Global Expansion and 2026 Hongqi Car Lineup

Hongqi continues to expand its global reach, now present in at least 43 countries and regions. The brand has entered markets in Europe such as Germany, Norway, and Sweden, while also building a strong footprint in the Middle East with Hongqi cars in KSA and the UAE.

The company is expected to push further with its 2026 Hongqi car launch, introducing more electric and hybrid models to strengthen its competitive edge.
