All-New Mitsubishi Pajero 2026 Key Features: Everything Saudi Buyers Need to Know

Mitsubishi Motors unveiled the fully redesigned Pajero at its world premiere in Tokyo on 2 September 2026. The new-generation flagship brings a 2.4-litre clean diesel with 480 Nm, Super Select 4WD-II paired with S-AWC for the first time, seven drive modes including a dedicated Sand setting, plus 230 mm of ground clearance.

The Off-Road Hardware

Mitsubishi Pajero comes with the Super Select 4WD-II (SS4-II) with S-AWC, paired with an integrated vehicle dynamics control system. This combination delivers the all-around capability expected of a flagship Pajero. The SS4-II offers the selectable four drivetrain modes:

• 2H for rear-wheel drive
• 4H for full-time 4WD
• 4HLc for a locked centre differential
• 4LLc for a locked centre differential with low-range gears

S-AWC then layers integrated control on top, combining Active Yaw Control which shifts torque left to right through the front brakes, Active Stability and Traction Control plus ABS. Additionally a large 18-inch brake rotors and an electric brake booster provide a reassuring brake feel. 

Seven drive modes are available: Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock.

The chassis is a highly rigid ladder frame using expanded high-tensile steel, with increased cross-sectional area for torsional and bending rigidity. The suspension features an independent double-wishbone front setup and a newly developed five-link rigid rear axle. 

Desert-Ready Details Worth Knowing

• Snorkel-ready fenders. A snorkel to be fitted in it without any bodywork modification.
• Front under-floor camera view. The 3D Multi Around Monitor shows the ground beneath and ahead of the vehicle. It activates automatically when you select 4HLc or 4LLc.
• Seat ventilation s cools across the entire seat, not just sections of it.
• Three-zone automatic climate control with independent temperature settings reaching the third row.
• Acoustic glass in the windshield and in both the front and rear door windows.

Here Saudi buyers pay most attention because a seven-seater is only usable in July if the third row genuinely gets cooled.

Interior, Screens and Seven Seats

The cabin features a monolithic display with two 14.3-inch screens, dropping to 12.3-inch on select specifications. The instrument display brings Pajero's triple-gauge layout as the Multi-Meter, showing altitude, compass heading, temperature, vehicle pitch and roll angles, plus Active Yaw Control status. The meter display offers 16 background themes that shift with the time of day, and show distinct visuals for each drive mode. Smartphone-link Display Audio supports wireless smartphone connectivity.

In the seating, it brings a three-row, seven-seat has a generous 150 mm sliding range and includes a tumble mechanism for third-row access. Mitsubishi says the third row offers enough headroom for adults, with a footwell shaped so the passengers can slide their toes under the second-row seats. Third-row seats fold flat for flexible boot capacity. Throughout the interior, materials use a soft-touch finish applied with a stitching technique drawn from Kimekomi, a traditional Japanese craft. In which Grooves are carved to 0.5 mm precision before the material is pressed in by hand.

Audio and Design

The Dynamic Sound Yamaha Ultimate system was co-developed with Yamaha and uses 12 speakers with dual amplifiers, plus noise compensation that adjusts volume and tuning by vehicle speed.

On design, Mitsubishi worked to a concept it calls "Grand Charisma". The front takes inspiration from kendo, with two grille choices of a horizontal-bar design or a honeycomb design. Headlights use a T-shaped signature with a recessed layout inherited from the first-generation Pajero. The C-pillar references the original's roll bar. A hexagonal rear motif reinterprets the old rear-mounted spare tyre.

The all-new Pajero suits Saudi buyers who want a flagship off-roader with modern driver assistance and desert-focused hardware. 

Wait, if you want a genuine ladder-frame seven-seat 4WD with low range, a locking centre differential and a Sand mode, and are willing to wait until 2027 or later. Do not wait if you need a vehicle in the next 12 months.
