    • Intelligent route planning with Google sync and Plug and Charge.

Nissan has revealed the final part of its LEAF Insights series by offering a detailed look into the all-new, third-generation LEAF. The carmaker has enhanced the electric vehicle (EV) experience with a range of features that are focused on lifestyle.

They have designed this to make it simple and more enjoyable to own an EV. This new LEAF, from faster charging to home energy sharing, is built to support the needs of everyday life in smarter ways.

    Making Charging Fast and Simple

The charging speed is one of the biggest upgrades. Based on European testing standards, the new LEAF can add up to 250 km of range in just 14 minutes when connected to a 150 kW DC fast charger. For U.S. models, using the EPA test cycle, owners can recharge 10 to 80% of the battery in about 35 minutes.

The new model is also compatible with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) and features Plug and Charge support. With this, drivers can charge without the need to touch their wallet or phone, since charging automatically starts and stops.

Smarter Driving with Google and Cooling Tech

The new LEAF, to help with longer drives, comes with an intelligent route planner synced with Google Automotive Services. Richard Candler, Vice President of Global Product Strategy, explains: “We know that one of the barriers EV has is global adoption is anxiety over long distances… So, drivers can confidently cover their journey.”

The Nissan LEAF also introduces navigation-linked battery conditioning. This feature helps adjust cooling based on route and load of driving. If a route includes low-demand conditions, like gentle roads or steady cruising, the system reduces cooling to save energy. During hot weather, it will also temporarily relax temperature controls while it charges, which allows drivers to have quicker top-ups.

    Lifestyle Enhancements through Energy Sharing

    Vehicle-to-Load (V2L):

    • The LEAF, in the U.S., includes V2L cabin outlets and cargo area.
    • Up to 1500W combined output to help power small appliances or outdoor gear.
    • Optional V2L adapter allows use of an external charging port for devices.

    Vehicle-to-Home (V2H):

    • It is available in markets like Japan.
    • It supports the supply of home energy and the use of solar power.
    • It can act as a backup during blackouts and reduce grid strain during peak hours.

Keiji Endo, Chief Planning Specialist, added, “V2X… supports the balance of energy between supply and demand and also supports society to utilize renewable energy. This EV supports customers and communities with energy needs.”

Coming Soon to the World Stage

Nissan will fully unveil the new LEAF next week. They will also bring to light all features and details. The reveal will highlight how the third-generation model builds on its legacy with fresh innovations with the aim to ease real-world use of EV.

The all-new LEAF, with its enhanced charging, smarter drive systems, and energy-sharing features, sets the stage for a more connected and convenient electric future.
