Toyota Corolla Expert Review
Team SayaraBay says
Any car enthusiast would know the name Corolla for obvious reasons, because this sedan is unmissable from the global automotive scene. Why? Well, since the Japanese auto giant Toyota introduced this iconic sedan back in 1966, yes, 5 decades ago, this car has grown into one of the world’s best-selling cars, no matter which market it entered.
The Middle East is not different, and Saudi Arabia in particular, where the Corolla always ranks among the top ten selling cars in any given year. And, now in 2025, in its 12th generation, the Corolla continues to grow from strength to strength, at a time when SUV seems to be the new craze all over the world. And, the question that comes to mind is, what makes this sedan so popular among car buyers?
It is not a straight answer because that won’t do true justice to it due to several elements that make the Corolla something special. We try to find out in this review, and also give you the flavour of what Toyota is adding new stuff, including big tech upgrades to the 2025 facelift. So, let's get on with it.
Interior
The Corolla has always been impressive with its interior with quality of materials, layouts, space for both rows and quite a premium feel as well. The 2025 model seems not to have tinkered much with this, and there are some minor changes and tech upgrades to make it even more appealing.
Design
- We get an impression of an overall refined interior with soft-touch materials on the dashboard and door panels, including the silver or piano-black accents that add a touch of elegance.
- Toyota has kept the interior design minimalist which makes it quite sorted and also gives you the feel of less uncluttered and free up a lot of space, something family users will appreciate.
- The seats are quite cosy and comfortable for all five passengers, with the upholstery options include premium fabric or leather based on the variant you choose.
- The Top-end models feature a leather-wrapped steering wheel for added sophistication.
- Like a typical sedan with the 60:40 split-folding rear seats increase the cargo capacity.
- One thing that made a positive impression is the driver-centric console with intuitive controls, and located within easy reach for quick access and an effortless driving experience.
Driving Position
- After being in the driving seat for a while, I feel elevated, which also means superior overall visibility without the necessary bulk of an SUV.
- The height-adjustable driver’s seat lets to set it as per your personal comfort level and preferred driving position
- The tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel allows easy adjustment for the most suitable driving comfort.
- Toyota continues to offer large windows and slim pillars, and so visibility remains excellent, which also helps parking at tight spots or navigating through bumper traffic.
- The dual-tone cabin with fabric and black accents adds a modern, premium feel, and with our time with the car, we get the feel of an overall design which is quite balanced, keeping in mind practicality, ease of use and comfort with an upmarket aesthetic.
Passenger Comfort
- Another key strength of the Corolla has been comfortable driving and seating as well, and frankly, nothing really changed in this department. We felt quite good after spending quality time inside the cabin.
- Features like automatic climate control with rear vents help you keep the cabin at a desirable temperature level, and yes, the AC works just perfectly, just in case you're wondering about the sweltering heat of Saudi Arabia.
- The steering wheel controls for audio, calls, and driver assistance like lane-keeping are super convenient.
- Toyota isn’t the best when it comes to offering a digital experience, but clearly, the digital-analogue instrument cluster displays key information such as fuel economy and speed with ease.
- Other conveniences for the passengers that make a lot of difference are the power windows and auto-folding mirrors offered as standard, along with leather-trimmed seats that give you that much-needed comfort during long drives and also appear decently luxurious.
- With a reasonable amount of legroom, headroom, knee room, and thigh support makes your journey peaceful and reduces fatigue.
Storage
The Corolla’s cabin is quite practical, and smart storage solutions for everyday convenience is one key element which Toyota seems to know very well. So, you get a lot of space to keep your stuff inside the cabin, like the centre console with a cooled compartment, ideal for keeping drinks chilled during drives. A sizable glove box and door pockets with bottle holders keep essentials organised. Then the multiple cup holders.
Boot Space
- Boot space is one key USP of this sedan, and you get a generous 470L capacity for all your daily luggage, groceries, or small suitcases.
- Beyond that, the 60:40 split-folding rear seats enable expanded cargo space for additional space as and when required
- Boot size balances practicality with the Corolla’s compact exterior dimensions.
- Suitable for city, urban and semi-urban car buyers and small families needing multipurpose and flexible storage.
Safety
Toyota has always been at the forefront in offering and introducing the best and necessary safety features with its cars. The 2025 Corolla is not different, and gets a robust suite of standard and advanced safety features, making it one of the safest sedans in its class.
Standard Safety Features
- Driver airbag, front passenger airbag, and front side airbags
- Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)
- Central locking with engine immobilizer
- Seat belt warning
- Day & night rear view mirror
- Safety regulation kit
- Fuel sticker and Tire inflator
Advanced Safety Features
- Electronic Stability Program
- Rear view camera
- Panoramic view monitor
- Front and rear parking sensors are standard
- Hill hold assist
- Tyre pressure monitor
- Chrome emblems
Exterior
The 2025 Toyota Corolla’s exterior has been revamped to make it more appealing to its wider customer base, and also to give it a bolder and more aggressive stance against its rivals in the market.
- Let's start with the front fascia, which gets a glossy black-mesh grille with chrome accents, mixing style and sophistication with flair.
- Same with the redesigned sharp LED headlights with superior nighttime illumination, and LED rear combination lamps give the sedan a modern, refined look, and continue with sharper aerodynamic curves.
- Not much has changed on the side profile, where you see the familiar Corolla silhouette with minor updates like flared fenders and body-colored side mirrors, which are not integrated with turn signals.
- Depending on the variants, 16/17-inch alloy wheels are available, and the top trims have 225/45R17 tires for a nimble posture.
- At the rear, you will find some changes in the original design, including a redesigned bumper and LED tail lights with reflectors for a sporty look.
- Compact roof antenna enhances connectivity, and the electrically adjustable side mirrors add to the overall convenience and safety elements of the car
- The Corolla is available in seven exterior colours including Black Mica, Celestite Gray Metallic, Red Mica Metallic, Gray Metallic, Silver Metallic, Platinum White Pearl Mica, and Beige Metallic.
Engine & Fuel Consumption

Ride and Handling
- The 2025 Corolla’s compact 4630 mm length makes city driving a cakewalk, and most importantly, parking is effortless, and a lot easier to navigate tight spots and crowded areas.
- What we found interesting is the well-tuned suspension which are soft and absorbs bumps and speed humps extremely agile, that means even at rougher patches, the ride is quite comfy and the occument hardly feel any discomfort, certainly good for families and elderly people.
- What makes the ride even more exciting is the refined engine options that Corolla offers, all three engines, the 1.5L, Hybrid and 2L powerful ones are good for Saudi road conditions, and we say this after taking them for a spin, in local real-life driving conditions.
- We also noted that Toyota’s TNGA-C platform with a low centre of gravity improves the overall stability and road grip, especially at twisty and curvy roads.
- The steering feels light and accurate, manoeuvring is effortless, both in city traffic and on highways, you feel Toyota’s focus on more comfort drive over sporty performance.
Features
The 2025 Corolla is loaded with features that focus on driver and passenger comfort, convenience and entertainment. And, this also makes the Corolla a first choice in its segment as Toyota tries to offer a lot at a reasonable price beyond the reliable powertrain. 2.0L XLI Executive MR
The 2.0L XLI Executive MR adds sportiness with a rear spoiler, the bigger 17-inch alloy wheels, and chrome accents. Smart and attractive additions include keyless entry and a premium audio system, and could be a better deal for buyers who prefer a combination of style and features.

If you’re willing to splurge and don’t mind paying that extra money to get everything Toyota is offering for a premium, luxurious experience, then definitely the perfect pickup. An ultimate combination of performance, luxury, and advanced tech in a compact sedan.
Sayarabay Recommends: To say that the 2025 Toyota Corolla is a reliable, fuel-efficient sedan is an understatement, because it actually is, and that is what kept it as a leading sales topper in Saudi Arabia., continues to be a compelling sedan for Saudi families and car buyers across different profiles, as it nicely balances luxury, affordability, advanced safety, and modern tech. Out of its eight variants positioned to cater to diverse needs, from budget-friendly to premium hybrid options. With strong resale value and lower running costs, it’s ideal for practical, worry-free ownership. And, the best choice could be the 1.8L XLI Hybrid for its exceptional 27.6 km/L efficiency, Toyota Safety Sense, and balanced features for eco-conscious drivers.
Verdict
The 2025 Toyota Corolla remains a segment leader, and no surprise that the automaker sells over a million units per year globally, and the key factors that make it that are reliability and superior resale value. With the key updates in 2025, the Corolla gets even more appealing to its buyers. If you’re looking for a sedan for your family or personal use, the Corolla is an ideal choice for anyone seeking a practical, stylish, and dependable compact sedan. It is a much better overall package in its nearest competition, providing you a lot of value out of this car, but hey, this is our verdict after spending time reviewing the sedan. If you want to buy this sedan, do give it a drive, and also check out its rivals before making that decision, but for us, the Corolla is hard to beat.
