GAC is preparing for a strong global debut in the electric pickup segment with the upcoming Pickup 01, introduced as a concept at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. Under the GAC New Energy Commercial Vehicle brand, this new model is part of the company’s bigger plan to expand its international presence. With production planned for 2027, the GAC Pickup 01 will be sold in overseas markets, including Saudi Arabia, Chile, Australia, and Mexico.

While China’s domestic pickup market has been slowed by past policy limits, exports are booming. According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), 62,000 pickup trucks were exported in Q1 2025 alone, a jump of 31% from last year. These exports now make up 45% of total pickup sales, showing growing international appetite for Chinese-made pickups. The global pickup segment itself represents nearly one-twelfth of all auto sales.
