MG GT Expert Review
Team SayaraBay says
In the affordable premium sedan segment, some top cars are competing to attract buyers in KSA. One among them is the MG GT, known for its stylish, coupé-like compact design that is a perfect choice for first-time buyers, young professionals and also city users. The sedan debuted in late 2021, has some special features, including sporty design, sophisticated tech, at a reasonable price, making it a bargain buy. The performance of the sedan is backed by a 1.5L naturally aspirated or turbocharged petrol engine with automatic transmissions, which blends performance and efficiency, key elements for city users. Available at a reasonable price range of SAR 63,998 and SAR 80,730, it takes on Kia K3, Honda City, and Nissan Sunny, highly popular rivals. The MG GT has some impressive highlights that make it among the prominent choices in its segment, right from its elegant styling, a feature-rich cabin, advanced safety systems, and a 6-year/200,000-km warranty for hassle-free ownership
Interior
Design & Quality
The MG GT’s interior represents sportiness with superior comfort, convenience and luxury, targeted at Gen Z buyers. What caught our attention is the soft-touch materials, leatherette upholstery, and metallic accents, all of which give a feeling that you’re in a much higher-end car. The main attraction is a virtual cluster and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system perfectly integrated into the dashboard. The red ambient lighting gives the car more playful, refreshing and exciting vibes. Although a budget sedan, we found the quality of the fit and finish quite well, and the material seems to be durable. Overall, the driver-centric is easy to use, uncluttered with intuitive controls and ample storage, making it a perfect daily driver.
Front Seat
At the front seat, comfort is well taken care of with amazing support, excellent visibility through a large windshield and sizable windows. The driver’s seat has a 6-way power adjustment, so that it can be adjusted accurately and fixed as per the driver’s comfort. This is helpful during long drives. The best part is the leatherette upholstery with red stitching, not just comfortable and cosy but also feels a lot premium and sporty. We spend a considerable amount of time during our test, and feel the seats are well-cushioned, which helps bring down the fatigue during city traffic or highway cruises, and the standard tilt-adjustable steering wheel is a great benefit for the overall comfort of driving.
Electronic Parking Brake
The MG GT gets an electronic parking brake (EPB) as standard, replacing the traditional handbrake to free up cabin space and provide much-needed convenience. Integrated with hill hold assist, the EPB ensures smooth operation in stop-and-go traffic or on inclines, and undoubtedly a practical feature for KSA’s hilly regions or busy cities. The EPB is located in the centre console, and doesn’t really mess up the cabin interior while adding functionality for urban drivers.
Rear Seat
The MG GT’s rear seat has enough space for three passengers. Despite being a compact sedan, it doesn’t feel cramped and offers sufficient legroom and headroom for adults, and families will love this aspect, given the car will be used for family trips and weekend getaways. The bench seat is very well positioned with a superior cushion ensuring great comfort, especially for those long trips. However, some taller passengers may feel a little snug due to the coupé-like roofline. A standard foldable rear armrest with cup holders at the back seat for the convenience of the passenger, and ISOFIX anchors ensure child safety. The Rear AC vents, standard, are there to cool the cabin quickly, and passengers at the back won’t feel heat, and so assured of a delightful experience.
AC Vents
The MG GT’s dual-zone automatic climate control system’s experience was more than satisfactory with powerful cooling through front and rear AC vents, and in KSA’s extreme temperatures, it won’t disappoint you. The digital climate interface, accessible via the touchscreen, lets you accurately adjust, while rear vents give constant comfort for rear seat passengers. The AC system’s efficiency is good enough to maintain a cool, comfortable cabin.
Storage Options
Practicality is one big aspect of this sedan, and this is quite visible by the storage options across the cabin. Starting from a centre console cubby where you can keep your phone or wallet, the door pockets are for small items. The glove compartment is large enough to store your essential items, including documents, and a front in-dash tray keeps keys or sunglasses within reach, and the same with the rear armrest’s cup holders. Overall, given the size of the car, the GT has enough storage spaces to keep it organised and clutter-free for families or professionals on the go. Each door panel has a bottle holder that easily stores 1-litre bottles, ensuring the rear armrest includes two cup holders.
Charging Options
The MG GT has multiple USB ports (including USB-C) across the front and rear, a wireless charging pad, and a 12V socket to make sure your devices are all charged up, always. The wireless charging pad at the centre console means no cable, and so less clutter, enhancing the cabin’s clean aesthetic.
Boot Space
The MG GT, being a sedan, has decent boot space, measuring 450-liter litres, quite sufficient for everyday needs, that could be groceries, gym bags, or small luggage. While smaller than some rivals like the Honda City, the boot is practical for urban use, with a wide opening and low liftover height for easy loading. The rear seats fold in a 60:40 split, so you can get some extra space as well whenever needed. What you noticed instantly is that the compact boot design suits the overall GT’s sporty body structure, balancing style with functionality for Saudi drivers.
Safety
The MG GT focuses on safety with a comprehensive suite of features for family and urban driving confidence.

Exterior
One of the key highlights of the MG GT is the exterior, with a stunning sporty design that makes it stand out and attract buyers from different profiles. Even though performance matters a lot, the look is still one major buying factor, and here this sedan scores quite well, as some of its rivals look pale and unexciting. In terms of its size, the length is 4,675 mm, the width of 1,842 mm, and the height of 1,480 mm high making it perfect for the segment, and the 145 mm ground clearance is enough to take on all types of driving conditions in KSA. The exterior of the car focuses on MG’s Digital Flame design language, comprising tone lines, bold accents, and a coupé-like design angle. Be it the assertive front grille or the streamlined rear, the MG GT has a promising mixture of style and passion.
Front
The front of the MG GT is attractive with the gold grille that commands attention with its intricate, flame-inspired pattern. Bolstered by glossy LED headlights with edgy Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), the front face gives a bold, athletic appearance that gives the car a great road presence. The headlights, standard across all trims, have beams for your night driving or foggy conditions, quite usual in Saudi Arabia’s coastal regions. The chrome-covered grille gives a touch of high-end flair, while the curved hood lines represent the GT’s sporty character, making it a distinctive car in not just its segment, mostly similar-looking crowded city streets or showroom floors.
Side
Standing at one side for a side view, the MG GT makes an impression with tis coupé-like profile, which is flanked by a sloping roofline, aerodynamic contours, and a taut, muscular character is indeed special. The body-colored door handles and side mirrors with integrated turn signals add to the overall beauty of a clean, stylish look. Do the side mirrors, power-adjustable and heating functions, take care of the convenience aspect, considering the KSA’s humid or dusty weather. The chrome window frames provide a simple but elegant touch, and you notice the 17-inch alloy wheels, with a sharp sporty edge.
Alloy Wheels
The MG GT’s alloy wheels, available in 16-inch and 17-inch sizes, give the car its best appealing look, and also play a key role in superior stability on diverse road surfaces. The multi-spoke 17-inch wheels on the COM and LUX variants look great, complement the dynamic styling, coupled with 215/50R17 tires for enhanced grip on regular asphalt road or light gravel. The base STD trim’s 16-inch wheels with 205/55R16 tires also provide a balance of comfort and efficiency, best for city commuting.
Rear
The rear of the MG GT plays a vital role in the car's overall design and super aesthetic, functionality and usability. At the back, the horizontally extended LED tail lights attract attention, and something distinctive about this sedan. Similarly, a subtle rear spoiler gives a sportiness, while the dual exhaust system elevates its aggressive posture. The rear bumper’s diffuser-like design boosts aerodynamics, and the compact boot lid integrates perfectly with the coupé-like body shape. The reflectors and a rear fog lamp serve the purpose of greater visibility in low-light conditions, also a practical feature, making the GT’s rear as striking as its front.
Colors
The 2025 MG GT is available in six colours, including White, Black, Red, Yellow, Blue and Gray.
Engine & Fuel Consumption
The 2025 MG GT offers two petrol engine options in Saudi Arabia, catering to different driving preferences:
Engine Type |
Power (hp) |
Torque (Nm) |
Transmission |
Fuel Economy |
1.5L Naturally Aspirated |
118 |
150 |
8-speed Intelligent CVT (iCVT) |
17.5 km/L (5.7 L/100 km) |
1.5L Turbocharged Petrol |
173 |
250 |
7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) |
16.9 km/L (5.9 L/100 km) |
Both engines are front-wheel drive, with a 50L fuel tank and a McPherson front/multi-link rear suspension for balanced handling. Three drive modes (Eco, Normal, Sport) allow drivers to tailor performance, enhancing versatility in Saudi Arabia’s varied conditions.
City Performance
The city drive of the MG GT is quite impressive, with agile handling and efficient power delivery, and daily driving becomes extremely smooth. The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine’s CVT allows effortless and soft shifts in stop-and-go traffic, and this is not just pleasing but also gives significant mileage, which is something most of the buyers will appreciate about the sedan. The turbo variant’s DCT provides swift acceleration for faster lane changes, and the compact dimensions of the sedan and smaller turning radius help a lot in effortless parking. What also comes to rescue is the 360-degree camera and rear sensors, when navigating tight spaces, congested lanes. This also helps in a silent cabin with superb insulation, almost no road or wind noise, a very key highlight of the GT.
Highway Performance
On the highway, though, the MG GT is composed and reasonable in modern speed, with the turbocharged engine kicking ample power for overtaking. The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine speeds up steadily, and ensures better mileage, and so if you choose to take this sedan for a long drive, it happens to offer promising performance. The multi-link rear suspension ensures stability at high speeds, though some wind noise is noticeable above 120 km/h. Adaptive Cruise Control (on LUX) and Lane Change Indicator reduce driver fatigue, making the GT a capable highway companion for Saudi Arabia’s open roads.
Ride
During our testing time, the ride quality of the MG GT has exceeded our expectations in terms of the quality, refinement and fine-tuning, promising comfort and sportiness. Ride quality is well-tuned for its segment, balancing comfort and sportiness. For a relaxed and easy cabin, the McPherson front and multi-link rear suspension are perfect, nicely absorbing road imperfections, from city potholes to uneven highways, and assuring a seamless experience. Another key factor is the body roll, which we noticed was minimal during cornering, and the cabin remains quiet, protecting passengers from any noise from outside. The turbo variant’s sportier tuning improves the overall engagement, while the naturally aspirated model gives you comfort, making the GT highly adaptable for KSA’s diverse driving conditions.
Handling
The MG GT also scores well in the handling department, and we experienced agile and responsiveness as critical factors, with precise steering that provides the much-needed confidence when driving through tight city corners or winding roads. The front-wheel-drive layout and ESP are two key elements in ensuring superior traction on asphalt or light gravel, while tires with strong grip do a fine job. The turbo variant’s DCT and Sport mode offer sharper responses, which most enthusiastic drivers will love; at the same time, the CVT’s smooth delivery is ideal for relaxed commutes. Features like Hill Hold Assist and AEB are there for more control, all of which amplify GT’s nimble and safe characteristics.
