XPENG G9L Unveiled as Next-Gen AI Flagship SUV, Global Launch Set for October 12

Saudi Arabia: XPENG has unveiled its next-generation G9L flagship SUV in China. This model is positioned as one of its most technology-focused vehicles yet. The new SUV combines battery-electric and range-extended electric powertrains with XPENG's latest physical AI technology. G9L is set to make its global debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, 2026, across 64 global markets.

XPENG G9L Targets the Global Premium SUV Market

The G9L is described by XPENG as its Next-Gen AI Flagship SUV. It will be available in both BEV and REEV configurations. This would give the buyer more flexibility to choose between fully electric and range-extended electric powertrains. XPENG is developing the G9L as a global vehicle with "Global Standards, Global Manufacturing" rather than being limited to the Chinese market. The SUV dimensions include 5,120 mm in length and a 3,100 mm wheelbase, resulting in a 0.605 wheelbase-to-length ratio. This provides a combination of interior space and handling agility. This would give the XPENG G9L family-friendly practicality without feeling clumsy or difficult to drive

AI Technology Takes Centre Stage

One of the main talking points surrounding the G9L is its use of XPENG's latest Physical AI technology covering smart driving and the intelligent cockpit, and offering flagship-level features and global standards. Powered by the company's VLA 2.0 model, which XPENG says is designed to enable faster cross-region generalisation of its intelligent driving technology. The G9L also uses the same Turing AI chip found in XPENG's IRON humanoid robot. XPENG describes the G9L as a technology flagship, with its AI architecture covering both smart driving and the intelligent cockpit.

Extensive Global Testing

According to XPENG, the G9L has been developed around international safety and quality requirements. The SUV has completed 192 crash tests across four major testing protocols:

• Euro NCAP
• ANCAP
• C-NCAP
• CIASI

These tests covered more than 110 individual test items with global road testing across 26 countries and regions over three years, covering more than 6.74 million kilometres. The G9L meets the design standards of four major five-star safety ratings worldwide.

Production in China and Europe

The G9L will be produced in Guangzhou, China, and Graz, Austria. After the XPENG G6, G9 and P7+, the G9L will become the fourth XPENG model produced at Magna's facility in Austria. For international markets, European production could also form part of XPENG's broader strategy of localising manufacturing closer to overseas customers.

Global Launch Set for October 12

Following its Chinese launch, the XPENG G9L will make its global debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, 2026. The Paris event will be the first stop in its global rollout, with the model planned for introduction across 64 countries and regions.
