Saudi Arabia: Lucid is preparing to launch its most attainable model yet. This midsize electric crossover will be manufactured in the AMP-2 plant in King Abdullah Economic City in the year 2027. It is expected to be priced from SAR 188,000 for people looking for exceptional efficiency, space, and performance. This shows brands' strategic shift in the mass-market EV segment, rivaling directly with cars like the Tesla Model Y and others.

What Is the Lucid Cosmos?

The Cosmos is Lucid's answer to expand beyond the luxury segment. The Cosmos is built on a new midsize platform aimed squarely at the volume end of the electric SUV market, as Air and Gravity are already strong contenders with six-figure price tags. It will be facing rivals like the Tesla Model Y and the Rivian R2. 

Derek Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Design and Brand at Lucid, described the approach behind the new platform directly: "With Midsize, we didn't compromise what makes a Lucid special; we engineered it to scale. These vehicles deliver unmistakable Lucid design and driving characteristics, while embracing a radically simpler, more efficient approach to manufacturing and cost." In practice, that means Lucid is trying to carry its efficiency and driving feel down into a more accessible price bracket rather than building a stripped-down entry-level car.

Design Inspired by Gravity, Built for a Different Audience

With the spyshots, it could be confirmed that the Cosmos is a smaller, sleeker echo of the Gravity: shorter, lower, with five seats instead of seven and a sloping, coupe-like roofline.

People who have seen the near-final prototype in person describe it as a "younger, more modern" take on the Gravity, with a distinctive rear end and an interior that stands apart from the rest of the Lucid lineup. 

Inside the Cabin: A New Take on Lucid's Tech

This is where the Cosmos takes an entirely different approach from the Air and Gravity. It features a single 36-inch-wide display that stretches across the dashboard, paired with an AI-powered voice system, away from the dual-screen layout in the older models. Lucid is calling the AI-powered voice system "Lucid Intelligence" as the primary way to control the car. It's a simpler, more unified approach to the cabin than Lucid's existing lineup, making it more efficient while making it feel like Lucid.

Manufacturing in Saudi Arabia: The AMP-2 Connection

Perhaps the most significant detail for buyers in the Kingdom is where the Cosmos will actually be built. Lucid's AMP-2 plant in King Abdullah Economic City is under construction and set to begin building the Cosmos. The facility is expected to supply markets across the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. That local production angle matters for Saudi buyers beyond just national pride. It should also help Lucid manage costs and delivery timelines for the region once the Cosmos reaches showrooms, and it positions the Kingdom as a genuine export hub for a global EV brand rather than just another regional market waiting for cars to arrive by sea.

Expected Pricing and Market Position

Lucid has not confirmed official pricing, but based on the speculations, it is most likely to be priced below $50,000, which is roughly SAR 188,000 at today's exchange rate. That would put the Cosmos well under the Lucid Air,  in the range of the Tesla Model Y and Rivian R2, two of the best-selling electric SUVs in their class globally.
